What up with this NY #heatwave tho?!
Before Summer is over, I think you should take a look at this. In the Last Episode of #Unframed Chronicles, I introduced my most recent photo series, Summer Be...
An ode to living for the moment. I've often found myself thinking in a mindset of "when I..." and searching for the next thing rather than respecting where I am right now. In the past, I have used Summer as a marker. I've avoided enjoying my summer because I've been focused on not where I am but where I thought I should be. This project is about embracing where I currently am and allowing myself to enjoy all the beautiful things that this Summer means to me. Enjoying all the things I told myself I would do but put off in the past. This series is about letting Summer be Summer.
With the Ultimate reveal of these 3 pieces in the Arived in Brooklyn showcase, I now want to share them with you, along with a few #BTS of the process.
This piece is really the anchor of my project. When plotting out my photos I knew I wanted to create something that gave the feeling of Summer just by looking at it. Often, I’ve found myself not enjoying present moments because I’m focused on my next move. I found a quote along the lines of, “And let yourself be even in the uncertainty.” This piece is meant to be a reflection of me relishing in my seasons. Letting Summer be Summer
This piece is my absolute favorite piece. I love the contrast between the orange and blue and I also really feel like this image is what happiness looks like to me. I named this piece "Nobdy's Slice too Thin", after a lyric from the song Glock Peaceful by @mereba. The full lyric is "All of us even, Nobody's slice is too thin" and I was just like yes a utopia where Everyone gets a piece of their magic – that's how this image operates for me
This was the first piece I photographed for my Summer Be series. I really wanted to experiment with photographing objects rather than portraits. I knew I wanted to create lighting that mimicked my favorite type of sunset. I also wanted to walk this line of the image looking dreamy and fantastical and serving Main Character energy. Nothing too deep, just some fun experimentation.
If you must know one thing about me, I am very particular about the cups I drink my beverages out of. I have a cup for each beverage occasion and I call them my main character cups. Why? Because when I'm drinking my beverage I really like to sit in my best main character movie moment. They make me feel fancy and important and I love that moment for me. I encourage you to do the same.
I see each piece as an extension of myself and just my overall Summer #mood. I am working on ways to create experiences for all of my friends, family, and supporters from afar. How can I allow you to step into my space without physically being here? MUSIC! Music is such a hefty part of my workflow and my everyday experience. Below you will see the experience map I created featuring a Spotify playlist with music that heavily influenced my work process. Pop in some headphones, take a walk, a bike ride or just stand still and the rest is up to you.
Thank you all for the support along the way. I'd love to hear some of your Summer highlights, comment below to share some with me. If you enjoy these messages and would like to keep up with all things #Unframed be sure to follow me on Instagram and stay subscribed on the website.
I wish you all the best last couple weeks of Summer
